Juxtaposing American spirit and Japanese draping techniques, Overcoat debuted their latest collection. The show included monochrome looks and classic oversized coats, even bringing back the brand's signature cloaks—but this time with an unmistakable patriotic spin on it.
While Overcoat is somewhat of a newcomer to the international fashion scene, founder and designer Ryuhei Oomaru is far from a rookie. Oomaru created Overcoat as an outerwear extension from his main brand Oomaru Seisakusho 2 Inc. Studying fashion design in Tokyo and working in the New York fashion scene for over a decade, Oomaru once again demonstrated his knack for borderless designs while creating an homage to his artistic experiences.
The patriotic elements extended beyond color; one model sported a bag with the Statue of Liberty’s head emblazoned on it, while another wore a coat with the Lady Liberty motif.
